Susan M. Davis graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a degree in English. She has been an 8th grade English teacher
for 27 years. She is a former Teacher of the Year. Susan also has a Masters of Science in Educational Counseling. She just completed her MFA in Creative
Writing Non-fiction from Fairfield University in Connecticut. Susan resides in Southern California with her wife, Karen Kozawa and their 3 Cocker Spaniels.

I’m a woman, a lesbian, a teacher and author. I graduated California State University, Fullerton with my BA in English and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English. I earned my Clad certificate for teaching English learners at the University of San Diego. I continued my education and earned my Masters of Science in Educational Counseling at National University in Costa Mesa California. In the past six years I have attended Fairfield University in the MFA Creative Writing program. In 2016 I earned my MFA in Creative Writing Non-fiction. In 2019 I earned my MFA in Creative Writing Fiction. Currently I’m working on my MFA in Poetry.
I’m a published author. My Memoir “Where There is Breath, There is Life” was published by Adelaide Press in November of 2018. I also have two essays published In 2018 and 2019 by Adelaide Press. I was a finalist both years in their non- fiction essay contest.
I taught for 28.5 years in the public school system and 23.5 of those years in the same classroom. I taught Honor/Gate eighth graders and Benchmark students. I had a stellar career and it was topped off by winning Teacher of the Year. 2006-2007.
I love to go to Hawaii and Big Sur with my wife. She suffered a twice ruptured brain aneurysm in 2008 and I have been by her side through it all.
We have three dogs and we love Cocker Spaniels. We currently live in Laguna Hills, California.
I love to make bookmarks for students and promote positive affirmations on the bookmarks.
I read, write and tutor.
My favorite color is purple and yes I have silver hair with purple spikes. I also like tattoos and have about eight of them on my arms. Each one is significant from my life story.
One of my favorite authors is John Steinbeck.
I taught over 3000 students and each one went through my Holocaust unit. My annual classroom theme was: Tolerance and Acceptance.
